Description & Services
Descriptionis a maximum, medium, and minimum security facility.

The medium unit offers a healing unit for Aboriginal inmates (Ni-Miikana).
* promotes a healing process based on Aboriginal culture. This contributes to the successful reintegration of Aboriginal offenders.
* actively encourages and assists offenders to become law abiding citizens by providing living skills, vocational programs, social programs, substance abuse programs, educational upgrading, and work experience.

Volunteers provide support to the offenders through visitation, tutoring, spiritual guidance, Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous groups, and modeling positive behaviour. All of our volunteers are required to attend a Volunteer Orientation program which will help them understand and integrate into a correctional environment. If you are interested in volunteering at Stony Mountain Institution please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 204-344-5111.
